The Zere (Miss Berom) and Gwol Lwele (Berom King of Music) have emerged after keen contests that lasted for Two (2) Days with the Preliminary Stages which held concurrently at Lala Berom Jos Museum on 29th April, 2025 and the Grand Finale at Tamarald Event Centre Jos which ran from 30th April to early Morning of 1st May, 2025.
Miss Blessing Monday Doro from Kuru District Jos South Local Government Area emerged as the winner of the Zere Beauty Pageant Category, defeating eleven other contestants. Zere Za’ang, Jennifer Gyang Mafeng was declared the first runner-up, while Zere Gashish, Teyei Deborah Victor secured the third position.
The Gwom Lwele category, which saw four contestants vying for the top spot, was won by Rwas Japheth Pam, a renowned music artiste.
The Gwom Rwey Gashish District, His Royal Highness Da Prof. Nuhu Gwong Dangata, who represented the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR, lauded the success of the event and commended all contestants for their discipline and spirit of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the contest. He cautioned the youths to remain good ambassadors of the Berom Nation and avoid tendencies inimical to unity and progress.
Senator Simon Mwadkwon, Chairman of the 2025 Nzem Berom Main Planning Committee, expressed his pleasure with the event’s success, praising the judges for their outstanding efforts. He noted that the 2025 Nzem Berom aims to celebrate the strength and resilience of Berom women, and all Zere contestants demonstrated remarkable gallantry, prowess, and resilience.
The President of Berom Educational and Cultural Organization (BECO) congratulated the contest winners, encouraging them to utilize their talents to mentor others towards greatness.
Barrister Solomon Mwanti, Chairman of the Zere/Gwom Lwele and Concert Subcommittee, highlighted that the event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Berom people, emphasizing intellect and beauty.
The event featured the crowning of winners, live performances by notable musicians, spoken words, and other attractions.
As winners, they are expected to utilize their new roles to positively impact Berom youths, add value to the Berom nation, Plateau State, and the nation at large.
