The Coordinator of Operation Rainbow in Plateau State, Major-General Steve Goar (rtd), has said the synergy among the various security agencies in the state would go a long way in check-mating the activities of miscreants.
Operation Rainbow, midwifed by the immediate past governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang, to complement the effort of other security agencies in combating crime in the state, has always adopted proactive measures in combating crime, especially in the hinterlands where communal clashes between the natives and the Fulani’s abounds.
Speaking on the efforts so far, Gen. Goar told Journalists during last weekend that his men had been doing wonderfully well, even though the outfit is yet to be assigned as an armed carrying agency, its geographical spread to councils and ward areas has placed them on better advantaged than other personnel like the Army, the Police, the Air Force, Civil Defence and other counterpart security agencies.
According to him, what is left now is for the agencies to work harmoniously with the understanding that both of them are desired to restore peace and order in the state.
He commended the concept of the former governor in forming the outfit to complement the efforts of other security agencies, promising that as experts in security management, they will continue to do their best in exposing threats before they break out.
He, however, called on the personnel not to compromise on the rule of engagement and work towards building the outfit to greatness. Adding that, those recently sent abroad for training on counter tourism should maximise the benefit of the training.
Speaking on the recent clashes between the lrigwe and Berom Communities in Bassa, Jos South and Riyom Local Government Areas, the Coordinator described it as unfortunate, but called on the warring parties to sheath their swords and embrace peace.
While calling on the public to cooperate and give useful information to security agencies on suspicious moves and threats and to stop trivialising issues, the coordinator equally appealled to field officers to continue to work in synergy.
