The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has expressed worry over the inferno that destroyed part of the Jos Central Mosque and some shops.

Lalong, who was on a sympathy visit to the Central Mosque as well as to the officials of the second hand furniture sellers whose shops and property were also destroyed, said the incident was highly sympathetic.

The Governor, represented by state Commissioner of Information and Communications, Malam Nazif Ahmad, stressed: “”It is sympathetic because wherever there is an incident like this, the people suffer.

“We have seen the level of loss and the damage.

“We also know the predicament in which those concerned are into.
“The Government is very much mindful of the situation that we are in and will certainly come to their aid.”

Lalong said as part of measures by the Government to avert the reoccurrence of the incident, the department of enlightenment under the Ministry of Information will certainly embark on the enlightenment of people, particularly children and women, on the dangers of handling electrical appliances.

ViewPointNigeria reports that the fire disaster razed down the female section of the Jos Central Mosque as well as some shops and property.

The commissioner was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barrister Yusuf Gambo Hawaja, and some other top Government functionaries.
