- Dr. Gyang Bere Reiterates Government’s Dedication to Rural Electrification
Consistent with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s vision of electrifying rural communities to promote economic growth, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Executive Governor, Dr. Gyang Bere, has facilitated the installation of an electricity transformer, supplying power to eight rural communities in Chugwi Ward of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government Area.
The commissioning ceremony, which took place on Tuesday amidst festivities in Dalyoho community, featured Dr. Bere expressing his appreciation to the people for their unwavering support of Governor Mutfwang’s administration. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to broadening rural electrification as a means of stimulating economic growth and enhancing living standards.
Dr. Bere underscored Governor Mutfwang’s remarkable progress in the power sector, including: Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria to provide solar power.
Granting a Certificate of Occupancy to Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited for electricity expansion in Southern and Central Plateau.
Creating a partnership committee with the European Union to provide solar power to primary healthcare centers across the State, ensuring optimal healthcare delivery.
He stressed that the installation of the transformer would foster an environment conducive to economic activities in the benefiting communities. He encouraged youths to capitalize on the opportunity to develop sustainable livelihoods rather than engaging in social vices.
Dr. Bere further emphasized the need for the community to safeguard the transformer and assume responsibility for government projects in their area to ensure their longevity and usefulness.
Dignitaries at the event included the Councilor representing Chugwi Ward, Hon. Gyang Amos; Da Gwom Chugwi, Da Mandung Atyos; former Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor, Hon. Ayuba Pam Dangwong; and representatives of the Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) Company.
Dr. Bere was commended for his initiative in installing the transformer, which had been donated several years ago by the former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Dalyop Fom.
Speakers praised Governor Mutfwang for appointing Dr. Bere, describing him as a leader who has remained connected to the grassroots. They prayed for continued support to enable him to carry out his duties effectively and further impact rural communities.
