Residents of the Tudun Wada and the Kabong communities in the Jos North local government area of Plateau State have poured encomium on the State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for constructing the road linking the communities, saying the Governor has proven to be a man of his word.
The joyous residents who came out in numbers in celebration during the inspection of the progress of work on the 6.95 km road narrated the difficulties they faced in the past due to the bad condition of the major road and stated the Governor’s intervention is a dream come true.
Paulina Thomas from the Kabong community, who has spent four years in the community, said she has not had it this good. “The dust from the bad road was too much; our belongings were always dusty, and every time I coughed, the mucous I brought out was dust. This road has been in the state for years but with the intervention from Governor Caleb Mutfwang, we are now in heaven. He promised to do something about this road and he has done. He is a man of his word; God bless him,” she noted.
A motorcyclist, Asilale Salama, added, “It was a tortuous journey for motorcycles to navigate the road, and motorcycles that ply the road don’t last more than a year due to the bad road. This intervention will prolong the lifespan of our motorcycles.”
Liatu Jeremiah whose children couldn’t play outside due to the bad road and the dust it emanates, and Blessing Anyebe unanimously agreed that “The construction of this road is a dream come true.”Laitu stressed she was always in tears due to the condition of the road; Anyebe maintained, “Taking a ride on a motorcycle was a herculean task because one will fall, get injured and hospitalized, but now, I feel I am in heaven. I thank Governor Caleb Mutfwang very much.”
However, the State Government officials who went for the inspection assured that more are in the offing and urged the citizens to continue to support the government and protect the infrastructure in their communities.
The Commissioners for Urban Development, Joshua Ubandoma, Information and Communication, Musa Ashoms, and Lands, Survey, and Town Planning, Peter Gai, promised that the road construction, which is at 60% completion, would be completed very soon.
Ubandoma appealed to the residents to cooperate with the government by accepting the agreed compensation and moving out on time so that the work could continue.
