Chief Obasanjo Lauds Gov. Mutfwang’s Proactive Efforts to Achieve Unity and Peace at Plateau Unity Christmas Carol

In a concerted effort to strengthen peace and unity in Plateau State, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his bold initiatives in fostering love, harmony, and development by uniting the people of Plateau State under the banner of Christ.

Obasanjo made the commendation on Saturday during the second day of the Plateau Unity Christmas Carol and Praise Festival, held at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Doi, Jos South Local Government Area.

The former President praised Governor Mutfwang’s administration for implementing programmes aimed at addressing insecurity and uniting the state. He expressed optimism that the Unity Christmas Carol would bring healing and restoration across all facets of life in Plateau.

“I thank God Almighty for making it possible for us to be part of this Unity Christmas Carol and Praise Festival. I appreciate Governor Caleb Mutfwang for this godly initiative. It is evident that this idea came from God, and I believe He will continue to nurture it through you, Governor.

“Your commitment to peace, security, stability, prosperity, and progress in Plateau State is evident in this initiative. Love is the foundation for unity, understanding, and harmony. Diversity is God’s gift, meant to strengthen us. Where there is love, equity and inclusion prevail. Governor Mutfwang embodies these principles in his leadership,” the former President stated.

Obasanjo also reflected on his personal experience with former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, recalling Gowon’s act of writing a heartfelt letter that contributed to his release from prison. He described Gowon’s gesture as a testament to true leadership grounded in love and compassion.

In his remarks, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang emphasized that the carol aligns with his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness. He reiterated his resolve to unite Plateau’s diverse communities for shared progress.

“Plateau State is blessed with immense human and natural resources, but unity has been our greatest challenge. This administration is dedicated to fostering peace and togetherness to unlock our potential for development,” Governor Mutfwang stated.

The carol, he explained, aims to bring people together through songs of praise and worship, uniting them under the banner of God.

The event featured prominent dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Guest of Honour, former Head of State Gen.
