As the International Youth Day 2024 is commemorated today, former Nigeria’s Senate Minority Leader Distinguished Senator Simon Mwadkwon PhD has commended Nigerian Youths for their resilience in the face of daunting challenges ranging from economic hardships, insecurity and others which have not dampen their spirit to be patriotic and contribute their quota to Nation building.

Senator Mwadkwon in a felicitation note to the youths in commemoration of the Day appreciated the youths who he described as the “Pillars of the Nation” for their patriotism and remarkable impacts to the Nation.

He said the theme of thIs Year’s event “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways For Sustainable Development” is apt and timely considering the immense contributions of technology to the national and global economies.
He urged the Youths not to avoid the social media and other technologies but embrace them and put them to effective use for prosperity.
In his words “The Youths are the pillars of our Nation, their contributions to technology, democracy and the Nation cannot be overstressed. They are persons with multidimensional talents, gifts and capabilities that must be harnessed in a fit environment in order to achieve their full potentials at appreciable levels. Being someone that is taking full advantage of the social media and technology considering the daily global demands for technological advancements and the roles of technology to societal transformation, I call on the youth to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the social media and technology to create wealth and be financially stable. This Year’s theme is not only apt but timely considering the daily improvements and advancement in technologies.
Having served as a Youth Leader in various capacities, I comprehend the challenges bedeviling the youth because I came face to face with those challenges. I have always being an Advocate of building the capacities of the Youths to make them irresistibly relevant”

Sen. Mwadkwon said government at all levels must be deliberate in creating the enabling environment for the youths to achieve their potentials.
He further stated that Government must also skill and empower the youths in various technologies for self-reliance.

He urged the Youths to be united, focus and patriotic towards achieving a more united, better and prosperous Nation. This according to him they can do by discarding ethnic, religious and Political sentiments and embracing true patriotism.

He wished the youths in Nigeria and across the World a successful and impactful celebration.
