The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has appreciated the People of Plateau State for the mandate and trust reposed in him and his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo to serve the Citizens of Plateau State.
He said they are not taking the honour given to them by God through the instrumentality of the People’s votes for granted and would put in their best to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Citizens of the State.
“Thank you also the People of Plateau State that you agreed with God to bring us to this place of honour. If you didn’t agree with God you would not have voted us. But you voted for us joyfully, willfully and without any inducement”
The Governor made these disclosures at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service which held on Sunday 21st January, 2024 at the famous Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos North LGA, Plateau State.
The Governor appreciated those who supported through prayers throughout the period of the legal battles that ended at the Supreme Court in his favour. He glorified God for completing that which He started regarding the Election Tribunal.
He said seeing the people who came out in their numbers for the Thanksgiving Service, it is an indication that the hopes are high and said his administration would work to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the People.
He promised not to betray or disappoint the trust and confidence reposed in them, but work round the clock to provide good governance to the Citizens irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
He said his administration would work to provide sound, visionary and purposeful leadership to the State.
He admonished the people to be united, be agents of peace and prayed for the Church on the Plateau to be a catalyst of unity across the Nation. He appreciated the Church on the Plateau through their leaders for their prayers, cooperation and the leadership they are providing to God’s flock in their custody. He said his desire and prayer is for God to unite the Church on the Plateau.
He appreciated the judiciary for standing for the truth and allowing justice to prevail as well as President Bola Tinubu for being a Father to all and not interfering all through the election and the tribunal.
In his exhortation, His Eminence Bishop Francis Wale Oke President of Pentecostal Fellowship Nigeria (PFN) who spoke on the Significance of Thanksgiving read from
Luke 17:11-17 and Revelation 21:15 said thanksgiving is vital to appreciate God for His blessings and mercy. He said the victory at the Supreme Court is the beginning of victories to be recorded in Plateau State.
He said God would use Gov. Mutfwang to restore Plateau State’s lost glory of the State and make it whole again.
He said from the Thanksgiving God will begin to make things new in the State socially, spiritually, economically and educationally.
Goodwill messages came from former Governor of Adamawa State His Excellency Boni Haruna, former Sole Administrator of Plateau State Major General Lawrence Onoja (Rtd), Emeka Etiaba SAN, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, former Governor of Plateau State Sen. Jonah Jang and Plateau State Chairman of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) who all commended the Governor for providing exceptional leadership and harped on the need for the Citizens to be united uphold the Governor in prayers.
They urged him to work to better the lives of the citizens and provide them with democratic dividends.
The Service featured special prayers for the socioeconomic development of the State and Nation; the Governor, his family and the State Executive Council/Appointees; the people of Plateau State; President, Vice President, National/State Assemblies and Judiciary as well as victims of attacks, captives, insurgency and insecurity.
Music Ministration came from Solomon Lange, Barr. Ezra Jinang, Daps, Mallam Razphil, Mama Mary Lar, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters Choir and ECWA Women Fellowship.
