Saturday 13th January, 2024 was a historic day that would not be forgotten in a hurry in Plateau State as Citizens came out in their numbers with jubilation to receive the Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang after his resounding victory at the Supreme Court which affirmed his election as the duly elected Governor of Plateau State.
The crowd who couldn’t hide their joy and satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s verdict were at the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang and accompanied the Governor all through into the State Capital to Langfield Leisure Park Little Rayfield Jos where a reception was held.
All major junctions right from Heipang to Jos were filled with people who came out in their numbers to welcome the Governor. It took the convoy of the Governor over two (2) hours to get to Jos due to the massive jubilation.
In his remarks at Langfield, Governor Mutfwang appreciated Plateau citizens and supporters nationwide for their unwavering support, pledging to revitalize Plateau and fulfill promises of progress.
He commended the justices for upholding justice and restoring hope to Plateau and Nigeria. He highlighted the significance of their decision, stating that the Justices could hold their heads high, if they witness the jubilation in Jos, Kano, and other States.
Encouraging unity among Plateau citizens, irrespective of politics, religion, or ethnicity, Mutfwang emphasized his commitment to addressing key issues such as terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, healthcare, and education.
The Governor expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for respecting the independence of the political and judicial processes, acknowledging him as a strong leader on the global stage.
Former Governor Jonah Jang described Mutfwang as a God-given leader, urging him to foster unity through regular political engagements. Plateau State PDP Chairman, Hon. Chris Hassan, thanked the people for their trust and called for support to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends.
Elder Statesman Amb. Yahaya Kwande hailed Mutfwang as a committed leader and emphasized the transformative impact with the right support. Former Minority Leader in the Senate, Simon Mwadkon, urged Plateau residents to stand united, dismissing attempts to divide them along religious lines.
Other well-wishers, including Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Hon. Gabriel Dewan, Chairman PDP Elders Forum Chief Raymond Dabo, and Hajiya Jamila Gwandu, echoed the call for solidarity with Governor Mutfwang, discouraging any divisive ideologies.
Nde Isaac Wadak a financial Expert has this to say “This victory goes to all who believe in truth and justice.
Inspite of the obstacles the people overcame cause reason and common sense prevailed.
So as we revel in the victory may we not loose sight of the enormous tasks ahead-which is provision of better lives for the people”
The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa in a congratulatory message urged the Citizens of the State to accord greater support to the Governor who has demonstrated leadership prowess and is transforming the State.
