Nigerian Army Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship concluded in Jos Plateau

The Small Arms Range in Miango, Jos, the capital of Plateau state, witnessed an impressive display of skills, teamwork, and determination as the Nigerian Army Inter Formation Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship concluded. The 3 Division Nigerian Army emerged as the overall champion after a thrilling 15Km combat race competition.

In a ceremony declaring the championship closed, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja highlighted the event’s significance in enhancing the skills and capacity of troops for the critical task of defending and securing the nation. General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of training, knowledge of military tactics, teamwork, and resilience in determining the success of military operations.

Represented by the Commandant Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Adewale Adekeye, COAS commended the commitment to excellence and preparedness displayed throughout the competition. “The commitment of the Nigerian Army to excellence and preparedness has been demonstrated throughout the competition,” he noted.

General Lagbaja congratulated the General Officer Commanding 3 Division for organizing a well-executed event and praised all participating divisions for their exceptional skills and sportsmanship. The victory of the 3 Division, he stated, exemplifies the division’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of proficiency and readiness, reflecting its pivotal role in safeguarding the security and sovereignty of citizens.

Eight formations, including 1 Division Kaduna, 2 Division Ibadan, 3 Division Jos, and 6 Division Port Harcourt, took part in the competition. Others included 8 Division Sokoto, 81 Division Lagos, 82 Division Enugu, and Army Headquarters Garrison. Army Headquarters Garrison secured the second position, while 2 Division Ibadan settled for the third position.

The closing ceremony reached its climax with the presentation of medals and trophies to the winners. The event garnered attendance from senior military officers, traditional rulers, and heads of security agencies, marking a celebration of excellence and camaraderie within the Nigerian Army.
