The Amananawei of Azuzzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi has hailed the resilience of Nigerian Youths despite the current hardship.
HRH Dr Selky also urged the Youths of Nigeria, particularly the Youths of the Niger Delta to unite in this current challenging times, adding that it is only in unity that they will be able to overcome their challenges.
In a statement issued on Saturday 12th August 2023 in Abuja to mark the 2023 International Youths Day, HRH Dr Selky further called on Nigerian Youths both at home and in diaspora to unite and support each other as that is the only way to guarantee that they will succeed in their lawful ventures.
The young monarch also used the opportunity to call on government at all levels to ensure that they make deliberate efforts to ameliorate the sufferings ocassioned by the recently announced economic reforms in the oil industry. HRH Selky also hailed efforts in the security of pipelines and the prevention of oil theft in the Niger Delta region. He thanked the GOC, High Chief Government Ekpempolo, popularly known as Tompolo for his relentless efforts to keep the country’s oil assets safe and in unity. HRH Dr Selky added that these efforts have improved the fortunes of Nigeria in high esteem recently in the economic zone.
HRH Dr Selky stressed that government should also ensure that the large national income currently being enjoyed should be channeled into the improvement of the livelihoods of Nigerians, so as encourage especially Nigerian Youths to support government.
Speaking on the theme of the 2023 International Youths Day Celebration ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World’, HRH Dr Selky said “Nigerian Youths must unite in such a way that they join in promoting environmental protection and learn skills in renewable energy in order to guarantee a sustainable world”.
HRH Dr Selky had recently received the leadership of the 9th Ijaw Youth Council World Wide in Abuja where he charged them to unite under one umbrella of Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri led IYC, stressing that elections are over, hence there was need to denounce any plan to start factionalizing the Council because it will dent the image of the entire Ijaw nation, and passed a brief statement on the INC to work closely with the youths of the Niger Delta region he added.
