Retired Military Officers on the Plateau have pledged their support to Headquarters 3 Division in their effort to restore peace and security in the State. The pledge was made today 10 August 2023 when the Retired Army, Navy and Air Force Officers (RANAO) Association Plateau State Chapter paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
In his remarks, the Chairman RANAO Plateau State Chapter, Colonel BM Gyang (rtd) noted that security on the Plateau was complex and needed multifaceted approach that requires galvanizing ideas of critical stakeholders and experts in security. He commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) for his restless efforts to restore normalcy to troubled areas within the State.
While reaffirming their desire to maximally support the ongoing military operations, the retired officers urged the citizens to cooperate with security agencies, as they expressed confidence in the ability of the GOC and Commander OPSH to deal with criminal elements on the Plateau.
Responding, the GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar remarked that the magnitude of security challenges faced in the country requires inputs from experienced security experts. He noted that the task of ensuring peace and security of the society must not be left alone to the security agencies, saying that information is critical and must be timely.
The GOC further remarked that serving military personnel must continue to draw from the wealth of knowledge and experiences of senior retired officers. He assured of the commitment of 3 Division towards supporting the objectives of the association in their drive to contribute to national security and development.
