Not less than 246 persons have been killed by gunmen in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau since May 29, 2015. This was disclosed by the North Central Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Yakubu Pam.

Pam was speaking when he led Christian leaders in Plateau on a call to the State Commissioner of Plateau, Nasiru Oki. He bemoaned the situation in which people are killed with impunity.

He said “It is unfortunate that Plateau which housed the Headquarters of most Christian bodies in Nigeria has become a thunder bolt where every little provocation triggers violence”.

The CAN Chairman stated that the unending killings has rendered a lot of people homeless with most of them in shock. He called on the police to be proactive and end the killings.
