The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Shehu Usman has inaugurated two different Committees to ensure wide media coverage as well as the protection of NPC ad-hoc staff during the forthcoming 2023 National Population and Housing Census.
The Committees are that of Publicity, Security and Logistics to ensure a smooth conduct of the head count in the locality.
Performing the inauguration in a brief and colorful ceremony held at the Jos North Local Government Boardroom in Jos, the Chairman noted that his administration has put measures in place to ensure a successful and hitch-free exercise in the locality.
The two separate committees are drawn from the Executive and Legislative arms of the Local Government, a representative of the Ujah Anaguta,Christians Association of Nigeria CAN, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, JNI, Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Correctional Service, the DSS, the Nigerian Army, NSCDC, Vigilante group Nigeria, PYC Jos North Branch, Market Association, NPC, NOA among others.
The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman said the committees have been mandated to deliberate, Strategize and sensitize the citizens on the conduct of the 2023 National Population Census in the area.
The chairman challenged the Committees to see the tasks before them as a call to serve God and humanity.
He said Jos North is cosmopolitan in nature with a heterogeneous population which requires the support of all and sundry to ensure a successful head count.
He assured the Committees that his administration will provide all the necessary support and logistics needed to encourage them in their task as well as make concerted efforts to sustain awareness in all the nooks and crannies of the locality.
This he said is to ensure effective head count of each and every household.
Usman tasked the Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Jama’atul Nasril Islam JNI, Community Development Associations and Youth Organizations as well as tribal Associations to cooperate with the committees to engage their members on the importance of the Population and housing Census to nation building.
The Jos North Local Government Council boss expressed confidence that the Committees will deliver on their mandate based on their professionalism and experience.
Jos North Local Government Area Comptroller of the National Population Commission, Danladi Musa restated the commission’s readiness to conduct the 2023 head count which he said is designed to produce accurate, reliable and acceptable census and inclusive user-friendly census data for development and planning purposes.
The Jos North NPC Comptroller further explained that the commission will deploy full digital technology in the conduct of the census adding that the NPC has concluded all the necessary arrangements to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the result of the census is acceptable to Nigerians.
He assured that the quality of the data to be generated will meet international standards.
Responding on behalf of the Committees, the Deputy Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council Ezekiel Shina appreciated the Council Chairman for the trust reposed on them and assured of their commitment to put in their best to ensure that Jos North is not left out of the exercise.
The inauguration ceremony was climaxed with the presentation of generating sets, Laptops and other materials required for the smooth take off of the exercise in the locality.
