NIGERIA AT 62: LET’S CHANGE THE NARRATIVE FOR THE SAKE OF THE NEXT GENERATION

As today we celebrate the journey of our nationhood, we also remember the sacrifices of the past generations of Nigerians whose deep sacrifices, lives, and resources were used as the pillars and blocks that made Nigeria of today a reality.

Today, our nation is reaching a climax of poor leadership, and lack of commitment to invest in the next generation of Nigerians. The sharp regional dichotomy existing in this nation is appealing and fearsome. We of this generation must rise and give our nation the hope it desires else we shall become forgotten history.

I wish to call on leaders at all levels and every Nigerian, to rise beyond tribal, religious, and political sentiment to build our nation together. We must not give in to Cancer and evil threatening our existence.

Let us collectively change the damming narratives of division, terrorism, etc, and let the stories of our unique diversities inspire and ignite love and sacrifice for one another. We must be deliberate in keeping every hope alive and dare the things that are threatening our unity as a nation.

We must keep this hope alive, we must all build a truly egalitarian nation. Let’s change the narrative for the sake of the next generation. Let us use the coming general elections to birth a new nation, let us unify this country by our choice of leadership as the opportunity has afforded us this privilege in the coming general elections.

May all our struggles never dim our hope for a better for us and the next generation.

Happy Independence Day
