COVID-19 Vaccine: Plateau Primary Health Care Board Synergizes With CITAD Partners at Unity FM Jos to Tackle Vaccine Hesitancy in Plateau

The fight against misconception and disinformation sorrounding the covid-19 vaccine in Plateau State have received a major boost, as two major stakeholders, Plateau State Primary Health Care Board, PSPHCB, and a team of Journalists from Unity FM Jos, working for Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), have synergized to workout modalities to promote the vaccine intake in the State.

The Journalists, under the leadership of Nasiba Adam Idris and her Assistant, Bashir Musa together with Jamilu Abdullahi Mazadu, paid a familiarization visit to the Executive Secretary PSPHCB, Dr. Livenus Miapkwap on Monday, 7th March 2022, to intimidate and present themselves as partners working for CITAD to fight against COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the State through radio programs and jingle campaigns.

Speaking during the visit, Nasiba Adam Idris, thanked Staff of PSPHCB for honoring invitations to appear on PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE and ‘RIGA KAFI YAFI MAGANI’, an English and Hausa radio programs on Unity FM Jos sponsored by CITAD to enlighten and educate Plateau citizens on the importance of taking the COVID-19 vaccine.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, NPHCDA, Plateau State, Dr. Livenus Miapkwap, while assuring the board’s readiness to work together to achieve success in creating awareness and promoting COVID-19 vaccine intake said “a lot of people now are relax because when the issue of COVID-19 came people are being dying everyday, people are really apprehensive, scared but now that the whole thing has calmed down a little people are not too scare but the issue is that we need to get people vaccinated because some people are dying silently as a result of covid19 which is quite preventable”.

Other PHCDB officers present during the visit were Madam Jerisha Kakwi, State Health Educator and Mr Luka Azi Izang, State Immunization Officer and many others.
