The Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party and Member representing Rukuba/Irigwe Federal Constituency, Hon. Musa Agah Avia has floored the Candidates of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Hon. Muhammad Gwani OON, Hon. Joseph Abbe Aku, and eight others to emerge the Winner of the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency Plateau State bye-election which held on Saturday 26th February, 2022.
Hon. Musa Agah pulled 40,343 votes to defeat his closest contender, Alh. Muhammad Gwani who scored 37,857 votes. The former Commissioner of Commerce and Industries, Hon. Joseph Abbe got 26,111 votes.
Dr. Oyekinka Oyerinde, from the University of Jos who was the returning Officer of the election declared that “Musa Agah Avia scored the highest votes of 40, 343, and having certified the requirement of the law, is hereby declared winner of the election”
The Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election became necessary following the demise of Late Hon. Haruna Maitala who died in a fatal car accident in April, 2021.
