Former House of Assembly Members of the ruling party in Plateau State have thrown their weight behind Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda who they said is the authentic Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
In a Press Conference signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Banahel Andong and Secretary, Hon. Abu Nimmyel, the group disclosed that it became imperative to lend their voice as stakeholders in the “Plateau Project” as well as the House of Assembly having watched keenly unfolding event and deemed it fit to make their position obvious.
“We unequivocally want to reiterate our openness and support for the New leadership in the House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Yakubu Yakson Sanda, as Speaker”
“The Forum views the election of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda as a product of divine ordination which manifestation is unveiled to men in a fashion designed by the most High” the group said.
They said as Parliamentarian, they are familiar with the House Rules and constitutional provision stating that the said impeachment was done in line with the constitutional requirement of Section 92 (C) CFRN 1999 (As amended).
The forum said it confirmed that on 28th October 2021, 17 out of the 24 Members signed for the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Ayuba Abok.
According to the Forum, it is misleading and unfounded that only Eight (8) Members signed the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Ayuba Abok and went further to explain that it is in line with the House rules that eight Members can form a Quorum for plenary and every decision taken is binding. It stressed that over eight Members were present at the plenary on the date of impeachment.
The forum called on anyone who is not satisfied with the house decision to challenge same in a Court of Law instead of inciting the people to disrupt the hard earned peace in Plateau State.
The Forum disclosed that enemies within and outside the State are exposing themselves urging them to stop inciting as well as presenting misleading information that are denting the image and integrity of the State Legislature.
They admonished Sen. Jonah Jang, Sen. Bukola Saraki, Sen. Istifanus Gyang and Lagos State House of Assembly to in the spirit of Parliamentarians ensure they always crosscheck the facts correctly before delving into conclusion and asked why the PDP in Plateau State is crying more than the bereaved, a situation the group said expose a hidden agenda.
They harped on the need for people to verify and investigate sources of their information before drawing conclusion based on sentiments.
The forum promised to continue to give their supports to Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda disclosing that his choice is a product of extraordinary competence anchored on his versatile skills to lead the House effectively.
They lauded Gov. Lalong for his commitment in driving the process of peace and economic development in the State and for being the first to grant financial autonomy to the Legislature in the Country.
The pledged their loyalty and support to the APC leadership in the State calling on the citizens to in the best interest of the State put aside political, religious, tribal and ethnic difference and continue to pray for peace, unity and development of the State.
