The Honorable Member, Representing Barkin Ladi and Riyom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon, PhD, has called on leaders of a group called Christian Youths in Politics Initiative (CYPI) to be drivers of positive change in Politics.
He made the call during the inauguration and swearing in of the State Executives of the group from the Northern, Central and Southern Zones of Plateau State at Ken Palace in Jos, Nigeria.
The Member charged the leaders of CYPI to shine the light of Christ by practically promoting righteousness, justice, equity and fairness in their political activities. He said this is the way CYPI can effect positive change in Politics for the benefit of all Nigerians, irrespective of faith, party, ethnicity, and other affiliations.
According to Mwadkwon, “we need Christian youths who will practically promote righteousness in every political party. As such, members of CYPI should join different political parties of their choice, become card carrying members, vie for leadership positions and get involved in all leadership selection processes.”
He then, cautioned the group leaders to shun the temptation of trading CYPI for financial gains or other personal aggrandizement as doing so will rubbish the good objective of the group and swiftly drag CPI into extinction.
He said one of the key reasons he has prioritized the youths in his human capital development program, is to mentor and empower them for leadership.
The group leaders then, took some time to pray for God to perfect the healing of the Rep Member from the wounds he sustained through a ghastly car accident some months ago. The Rep member was the special guest and was represented by Comr. James Nyango at the brief but colourful occasion on Sunday 26th September, 2021.
