Bassa LGA Killings: Amb. John Pofi Queries Government Existence in Plateau State

Amb. John Pofi, the National Coordinator of Prayer Force Network (PFN) has queried if government exist in Plateau State considering the unabated attacks, killings and wanton destruction of farm crops and other property of the citizens in the State.

The Clergy expressed displeasure over the failure of government to accord greater attention to the welfare of the citizens.

Amb. Pofi disclosed that having monitored happenings in the Plateau State especially in the troubled areas of Riyom, Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas closely for some years now and the trend is quite disturbing and disheartening especially in a democratic era where the welfare of the citizens is paramount and of utmost importance to those who are representing them at different levels of governance.

He prayed for God’s comfort to those that lost their loved ones, to provide shelter to those whose houses were burnt and give the State lasting peace that only He can give.

BASSA LGA KILLINGS; DO WE STILL HAVE GOVERNMENT IN PLATEAU STATE? AMB. JOHN POFI ASKED

I have been following happenings in the Plateau State especially in the trouble areas of Riyom, Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas for some years now and the trend is quite disturbing and disheartening especially in a democratic era where the welfare of the citizens is paramount and of utmost importance to those who are representing them at different levels of governance.

I have consistently advised, that in the event the federal government lacks the capacity to handle the security crisis in the land, there is no shame in going to those who have to come and assist despite its negative consequences which may in the long run compromise the security and sovereignty of the nation.

Coming back home, the governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong seems to be more concerned with the Chairmanship of the Northern Governor’s Forum than what is happening in his state. Any time an attack is carried on innocent citizens of the state, the highest he does is to come out and condemn in strong terms and it ends there.

The most worrisome and recent is the attack yesterday on Irigwe villages where seven persons were killed, many were injured and more than two hundred houses burnt leaving over seven thousand persons homeless.

One sticking thing is that some of these attacks don’t just happened, the attackers send messages with date, place and time, yet the state government remains adamant and unperturbed.

What do we do? Where do we run to? The state is currently in a mess and Supposed Chief security officer of the state is either more concerned about his senatorial ambition or the Vice Presidential slot which will never come, the future belongs to God.

It is time the Federal Government if at all our “Mr I am not aware” is aware of this security crisis to come to our aid. And if he is not aware, oh God, where do we go from here? As a clergy, I will plead with the good people of plateau state to go on their knees because God is still in the business of miracles.

May God comfort those that lost their loved ones, provide shelter to those whose houses were burnt and give us lasting peace that only He can give.

Shalom!
