It was a fulfilling and joyful day to persons living with disabilities in Benue State as the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos donated 150 Wheelchairs to them in order to identify with their mobility challenges so they can add value to themselves and the society at large.
The Executive Director of the Centre, Chief Ayuba Gufwan while donating the wheelchairs disclosed that the Centre is committed to building a strong and virile Nation, a vision that can only be achieved when all hands are put on deck.
He made case for those living with challenges to be given greater attention to enable them attain their full potentials in life as well as add immense values to the society.
He said Beautiful Gate will not relent in working to ensure that challenges being experienced by the people are addressed.
He admonished persons with challenges to be determined in overcoming their challenges, be optimistic and not see disability as a kiss of death, but as challenge that is surmountable.
He charged them to ensure they acquire education, learn trade or acquire vocational skills so they can contribute their quota to National development.
He also urged them to put the wheelchairs provided to them to good use while calling on the Benue State Government to involved them in its programmes and activities.
Wife of the Benue State Governor and the Founder of the Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF), Her Excellency Dr. Eunice Erdoo Ortom commended Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos for identifying with the less privileged in Benue State and all over the Country and giving them sense of belonging.
She hinted that the government is working assiduously to involve persons with disabilities in the governance process in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) mantra which calls for inclusion of all.
She said ESLF will continue its impact and inclusion of persons with disabilities to development initiatives.
She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the Wheelchairs and other items to be provided to them.
She lauded them for not giving up on account of their challenges and encouraged them to see themselves as persons made by God with special, unique and multidimensional abilities and talents that must be harnessed.
She said the Wheelchairs will assist them to move and fulfill their destinies.
The Chairman of Otukpo LGC, Hon. George Ali and Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hon (Mrs) Tabitha Girgi applauded the donors for the humanitarian gesture.
Leader of Persons Living With Disability in Benue State, Mrs Mary Eje and some beneficiaries who could not hide their joy appreciated Beautiful Gate for identifying with them and providing them with the wheelchairs which they said will assist them greatly.
The event held at the Benue State Government House Chapel, Makurdi.
