I am aware of the degree of grief that has gripped the nation, family and political associates as a result of the demise of the first Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Prof Dakum Gaius Shown in an Indian hospital.

Today, as you are laid to rest at Tongfom, Mile 8, Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, we are reminded of the selfless services you rendered in the course of your sojourn on earth.

Beyond the physical separation on earth, the seeds you sowed in politics and education are a reminder that leaders no matter their levels of standing will be remembered for what they did while alive. In your case, there are numerous sons and daughters, legacies that speak positively in your honour.

Therefore, I join the host of those who are affected by the loss of the late Rt Hon Prof Dakum Gaius Shown as he goes home today; and pray for the spirit of comfort to the family and the repose of his wonderful soul.
