Gov. Lalong Flags off Distribution of Irrigation Water Pumps in Plateau State

Plateau State Governor Hon. Simon Lalong, on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of irrigation water pumps to farmers under the Plateau State Potato Value Chain Support Project, supported by the African Development Bank.

Speaking at the occasion ,Lalong charged the 500 benefiting farmers from 6 Local Governments of the Southern Senatorial District to work hard in producing potatoes that will meet domestic demands and also export.

Lalong said he would continue to initiate and executed policies which would promote farming activities, thereby making agriculture more lucrative and attractive in the state.

He assured the farmers of government’s continuous support in order to make the state the hub of food production in the country.

He disclosed that research has proved that potatoes can be grown in all parts of the State.

Governor Simon Lalong also said steps have been taken by government to increase the production of Irish Potatoes in Plateau which would boost employment and create thousands of jobs.
