Dogo Nahawa : NGO upgrades School it built years back

In commemoration of the 10 year of the Dogo Nahawa Massacre , An NGO, Arm of Hope World Outreach would on Friday ( Tomorrow ) perform a foundation laying of laboratory and computer hall to the school it built for orphans at Dogo Nahawa area of Jos South local Government area of Plateau state some years ago .

It would be recalled that dogo nahawa in March, 2010 experienced an attack by unknown gun men that claimed the lives of over 350 persons, leaving the area littered with so many widows and orphans.

The NGO had also empowered not less than 30 women through skills acquisition programme and were settled with cash each after the training.

The President of the Arm of Hope World Outreach, Apostle Eugene Ogu, who spoke to our correspondent in Jos on Thursday said he is determined to restore joy and happiness to the people of the community, especially the orphans and the widows.

He said while growing up as a child i had no parental upbringing as my parents died while i was young , as a child I have no where to sleep and my experience has made me to understand the plight of the poor and orphans

“Some years ago after the massacre ,my NGO visited the community and discovered that most children whose children were killed have no access to primary and secondary education.”

“This was what pushed us to build a school where all the students in the school whom were were mostly orphans would be trained free up to their university level, so that they could be able to come back some day and rebuild their community, and put smiles in the faces of others.”

“Our determination in Arm of Hope is to restore joy and happiness in the faces of the people of these community having gone through alot of trauma.

.

”I strongly believe, that what i am doing today, is what the parents of these orphans and the husbands of these widows would had done to them if they were to be alive,” he said.

The cleric said that he is determined to give the less privileged a better education from grassroot.

Ogu appealed to well meaning Nigerians and Corporate organisation to key into humanitarian services, as the crises especially in the northern parts of the country has renderd alot hopeless.

He said 48 orphans who lost their parents in Dogo Nahawa will be writing JAMB this year

“We recently bought land in the community to expand the school “

“We are currently building three borehole for the community so that they can have access to good portable drinking water “

He appealed to the federal government that while considering sponsoring repentant terrorist abroad they should also consider the victims of the terrorist attack .

We appeal that victims of communities like Dogo Nahauwa , Bassa and other places ravaged by crisis in the past should be assisted ,he added .
