Kuru Old Students (KOSA) Set 80 & 99 Commissions Basketball & Volleyball Courts for Alma Mater’s Use

In a colourful and auspicious occasion today, Set 80 and 99 of the Kuru Old Students Association (KOSA) commissioned Basketball and Volleyball Courts and donated same to their Alma Mater, Government Science Secondary School Kuru Jos South LGA, Plateau State.

The event brought together illustrious persons who graduated from the School decades ago.

The Old Students entertained themselves playing with Basketball and volleyball on the courts they donated to their Alma mater in a friendly and more united manner.

Mr. Daniel Mannaseh Mutfwang who spoke on behalf of set ’80 at the event couldn’t hide his joy for the gestures by the two sets and encouraged others to emulate them.

He said there is always something one can give back to the school or place that made him/her. He said they will continue to do more to address issues that needs their attention in the School saying they are proud of the School and will do anything humanly possible to alleviate the plights of the School.

He encouraged the students to take their studies more seriously, be focused and serious in all they do, saying that is the road to achieving their full potentials.

Mr. Wetkos Mutihir, KOSA Set ’66 lauded the efforts of the Alumni, taking guests memory lane on how the Americans who taught in the school in the past introduced Basketball in 1963.

Mr. Solomon Aliyu Set ’99 Coordinator motivated the students, urging them to cultivate the spirit of resilience and be strong as they thrive towards greatness. He charged them to believe in themselves even when no one does.

He said the Volleyball Project to the School was to mark their 20th Graduation Anniversary from the School.

KOSA Set ’82 donated a grinding machine to the school and presentation of kits provided by Timeout Africa Foundation (Washington DC) through Arc. Suleiman Sonyonga Umar by KOSA National President, Justice Ibrahim Auta (Rtr) to the School Management.

Justice Ibrahim Auta (Rtr) commended the sets for giving back to where they graduated from decades ago.
He said the School has produced and still producing great personalities who are doing the nation proud.

He admonished the students to demonstrate resilience, be hardworking and do away with tendencies that are capable of marring their future.

Principal of the School, Hon. Yohanna Pam Davit appreciated the old boys for the projects and charged the students to guard and protect the projects.

He appreciated the Alumni for always bringing succour to the school and wiping their tears.
He promised judicious use of the items donated and proper use of the Courts.
Hon. Davit prayed God to bless and lift the Alumni.
The Alumni were seen training the students how to play Basketball and volleyball while others were encouraging them on how to live responsible and purposeful lives.

The Head boy of the School, Mr. Emmanuel lauded the numerous efforts by the Alumni and thanked them for not forgetting their Alma Mater. He said the Alumni have always stood in the gap to meet some of their basic and most challenging needs in the School.

Other students and staff of the school expressed great satisfaction to the Alumni for the impacts they are making to the school.

The commissioning was done by the National President of KOSA, Justice Ibrahim Auta after which the Alumni, management/staff of the school as well as invited guests wined and dined together.

The Alumni were well dressed in the Set 99 Anniversary outfit.
