Monday 25th February 2013 – Report reaching ViewPointNigeria suggests that unknown gunmen have killed the mobile police (MOPOL) commander in charge of Area 9 of Kano State, SP Dahiru Musa. It was confirmed that the commander was returning home from duty, when unidentified gunmen who were on his trail, came up at close range and openned fire on the officer. The incident was said to have happened in Sabuwar Gandu area of Kano metropolis. 

At the time of filing this report, Kano metropolis was said to be under palpable tension, as security forces responded swiftly, combing relevant districts.
