The Ujah Anaguta, His Royal Highness, Jauro Magaji, has paid glowing tribute to the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State in the last election, Senator (General) Jeremiah Timbut Useni for having a caring heart for people, and especially traditional rulers.
Speaking while receiving Gen Useni with his Running Mate, Dr James Dalok during a courtesy visit to his private quarters in Jos, the traditional ruler said,
“I saw how you cared for the Late Gbong Gwom Jos, Dr Fom Bot and his entourage when you received us as Military Governor of old Bendel State. I was a small chief in that delegation. You made the Gbong Gwom the Chancellor of the Bendel State University Epkoma. And as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, you never forgot us the traditional rulers. You really lavished care on us.“
“I commend you for your caring heart for the people. You are really a leader. Continue doing good to all people. God will keep blessing you also.”
Gen Useni explained that he was in the palace of the Ujah Anaguta to pay his courtesies to the traditional ruler.
“I have always had the welfare of traditional rulers at heart. That was why when I saw the dire condition under which they were operating, I wrote a Memo as Chairman of the Nationally Committee of Chiefs asking for 5% allocations of Local government subventions for the maintenance of palaces all over the country. This was approved by General Sani Abacha who was the Head of State. And that is what is being implemented all over the country till date.”
Gen Useni appealed to traditional rulers to play crucial roles in uniting the people and promoting peace and security in Plateau.
“We in Plateau should all do what we can to stop killings for whatever reason across the state. Let us love one another and be patient with each other. “
In a vote of thanks, Director -General of the JT Useni Campaign Organisation, Professor Dimis Mai-lafia commended the Anaguta for their peaceful conduct and hospitable nature.
With the Ujah Anaguta were the District Heads of Alabor, Kigiza, Targon, Laranto, Bugomoh and the Village head of Ujah.
