The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Plateau state command has warned foreigners to stay away from the polling units within the state during the general elections. The warning was issued by the Comptroller of the Service in Plateau, Mr Raymond Jaja in Jos.

Jaja said that the service has arrested some foreigners with forged documents and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voters Card (PVC). He added that the command is aware that there are foreigners with PVCs and forged documents all with the aim of voting in the general elections.

The Comptroller added that foreigners are not allowed to participate in the elections as it is only meant for Nigerians. He advised foreigners who are unsure of their rights to verify from the immigration as ignorance will not be an excuse when arrested.

He advised foreigners who are in possession of documents that they are not supposed to have to hand them over to the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Jos or any divisional office at the 17 Local Government Areas in the state and stay away from the polling centres during election.
