Coalition of youth groups in Plateau State have called on President Mohammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC to consider balancing the leadership of the nation across the divides of the six geopolitical zones by ensuring the speakership position is allocated to the North Central.
In a statement signed and made public to the Media in Jos by Kombo Mathew who spoke on behalf of the groups urged the highest decision making organ of the APC and relevant stakeholders to intervene in the NASS sharing formula for the interest of justice, inclusiveness and fair play to the North Central region.
He argued that “If the body language of the APC National chairman Adam Oshiomole and other relevant stakeholders is anything to go by, there is a tendency that both the Vice President and the speaker of the ninth assembly may emanate from the South West”.
Recalled that the issue of leadership of the ninth National Assembly is the trending stories on the national dailies with over eight contenders for house of reps.
Kombo went further to expatiate on the necessity of the North Central to be given the chance to produce the fourth citizen of Nigeria owing the over 2.4million votes given to the ruling APC at the recently concluded presidential polls.
He added “We have competent contestants from the North Central, the likes Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase who has just been re-elected the fourth time. Ahmed Wase has gathered all the necessary wealth of leadership and legislative experience that will enhance and strengthen democracy, he is the current Deputy majority leader of the house, an outstanding legislator whose total loyalty to APC is immeasurable should be considered for the position.
