Commissioner of police in Plateau state CP Isaac Akinmoyede at the weekend said the supplementary Governorship election is going on peacefully in the 40 polling units in 9 local government areas of the state .
Akinmoyede made this known while speaking to newsmen at the Plateau hotel Junction Polling unit in Jos the state capital .
He said the “Command is committed to ensuring that the good people on the Plateau willing to exercise their franchise do so without fear of molestation.
We heard security reports that some persons are bent on causing trouble in the state and we decided to restrict movement of persons and vehicles in order to prevent people moving from local governments where elections will not be held to election areas to ferment trouble.”
Our correspondent reports that their were impressive turnout of citizens at the Plateau hotel polling unit code 018 where the governorship rerun election is been conducted .
Our correspondent reports that as early as 7 .30 am , voters were at the Plateau hotel polling in Jos North Local Government watching with keen interest as INEC officials prepared the ground for the election .
Member representing Jos North /Bassa federal constituency in the National Assembly expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters and lauded Plateau people for their peaceful conduct during the exercise
