Sen. J. T. Useini Visits Displaced Persons’ Camps in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos-South LGAs With Relief Materials

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Senator representing Plateau Southern Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly and PDP Governorship hopeful, Sen. Gen (Rtr) J. T. Useini has visited Internally Displaced Persons of the attacks by killer herdsmen in Barkin Ladi&Riyom LGAs that left over 200 persons dead, many injured and property worth hundreds of millions destroyed.
The camps visited were those in Heipang Barkin Ladi LGA, Riyom Town in Riyom LGA, Geosciences in Jos-South LGA and Rawuru-Fan in Barkin Ladi LGA.
Sen. J. T. Useini in all his addresses condemned the attacks and killings in strong terms, calling on government to rise up to its cardinal constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties of the citizens while calling on the security agencies to nib the ugly attacks on the bud by displaying high sense of professionalism, objectivity and credibility. He also called on security agents to clear their names from the accusations of complicity.
While praying for the souls of those killed to rest in peace, he prayed God to heal those injured while calling on government to make efforts towards reconciliation, reconstruction and resettlement of the displaced persons so they can go back to their himes and means of livelihood.
He said sincere efforts must be put in place to bring perpetrators to book and dispense justice accordingly.
Sen. Useini urged the President to take decisive action on all Service Chiefs for failing in discharging their primary responsibilities of protecting lives and our territorial integrity. In his words, “anyone found wanting in the discharge of his or her responsibilities should be sacked.
Sen. J. T. gave bags of Rice and cash donations to each of the IDPs visited.
In various responses, the representatives of the IDPs expressed their profound appreciation to Gen J.T Useni and prayed for him. So many IDPs were in tears with lamentations on the forceful killings of their relations, eviction from their homes, destruction of their crops and confiscation of their ancestral farm lands. They cried that the only thing they desire at the moment is to go back to their homes.
In his entourage were Prof. Dimis Mai-Lafia who is the Director General of his gubernatorial campaign and other Directors and Coordinators of the Jeremiah Useini Campaign Organisation (JUCO).
