Sallah: Tricycles, motorcycles, fireworks, others Banned by Security Chiefs

Heads of Security in Plateau State, manned by the Special Task Force (STF), Commander, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, on Thursday said operators of Tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP and Motorcycles are restricted for two days, Friday and Saturday, to ensure a hitch-free celebration of the Sallah.

The Special Task Force (STF) code-named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), made the call after a Joint Security Meeting, held at the Task-Force headquarters on Wednesday, to strategize on security measures ahead of this year’s Sallah celebration.

The OPSH which is also in-charge of Eight Local Governments in Southern Kaduna, also said the use of fireworks, hate speech, street procession and over loading of vehicle during the celebration is prohibited, adding that worshippers should not hesitate to submit themselves for screening before entering Mosque and any other worship centers designated for prayers.

However, in a statement signed by the Taskforce Commander and made available to newsmen, Atolagbe said that the Joint Security Chiefs are committed to guard and sustain the relative peace that is being enjoyed in the State.

The General said, “while assuring Plateau residents of adequate security during the Sallah celebration, the STF enjoined residents to support the Force with timely information on any movement of suspicious and strange persons around them”.

Atolagbe was also quoted to have felicitated with the Muslim ummah as they celebrate this year’s El-id-ftri.

It should be noted that the OPSH is mandated to restore peace on the Plateau and some parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States.
