KEKE NAPEP: Plateau State Government Gives Conditions for Lift of Temporal Ban

Plateau State Government yesterday gave conditions for the lifting of the suspension on tricycle operations in Jos and Bukuru metropolis following Monday’s demonstration which led to the destruction of some vehicles.

In an attempt to calm the situation, the State Government had announced the suspension of all tricycle operation within the city, a decision commuters said has caused tremendous suffering.

However, the State Government yesterday held meetings with the leadership of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in the State and gave conditions for the lifting of the suspension.

State chairman for ACOMORAN, Mr. Abdullahi Shehu Sarki told the State of Plateau that the State Government insisted that all tricycles operators must submit their names, phone numbers, tricycle plate numbers and PT numbers which is used to identify each tricycle registered in the State at the various tricycle units across the city.

Sarki said, as soon as such registration was completed, the State Fovernment assured them it will lift the suspension.

On the N5, 800 seminar fee which will qualify operators for license, Sarki said the State Government had advised the union to meet with the consultant so as to reduce the price while insisting that every tricycle rider will need a permit to operate in the state.

He described as unfortunate that Monday’s strike action was hijacked by irate youths who attacked innocent persons.
