Plateau Govt vows  to maintain zero tolerance on corruption

Plateau state government on Thursday  said it would continue to maintain it’s zero tolerance for corruption and mismanagement by ensuring discipline in all financial transactions as it relates to managing the state,s lean resources. 

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of finance in the state Alhaji Sani Yahaya made this known while addressing journalists at the 2018 Budget breakdown in Jos

He said the Simon Lalong led administration would continue to maintain it’s stand on dealing decisively  with any citizen both in public and private sector that try to frustrate efforts of Revenue Authorities and the task .

Yahaya said this year s budget implementation will be different as the budget has been approved in good time, and we shall explore all necessary avenues to source for funds to finance the budget. 

The 2018 budget tagged “Budget of Rescue and Consolidation is aimed at consolidating on the gains and achievements of this administration since the beginning of its Rescue  mission, the budget estimate was projected based on the Macro-Economic variables from the medium term expenditure frame (MTEF)  and the Medium Term Sector Strategy MTSS 

As usual the implementation of the budget will be anchored on the 5 pillar policy trust of this administration with emphasis on the completion of the ongoing projects. 

The budget has a total size of one hundred and forty six billion, four hundred and six million, seventy four thousand, nine hundred and twenty one Naira (N146,406,074,921.00 only, this is more than the 2017 budget with the sum of N 6 ,911,766,665.00 .

The sum of seventy billion,   five hundred and five million ,four hundred and seventy  seven thousand ,five hundred and thirty Naira (70,505,477,530.00) only has been earmarked in the budget for capital projects and programmes this fiscal year, this represents 48.16 percent of the total budget, attention will continue to be focused on the completion of ongoing projects. 

He further said that to revamp the education standard in the state, the administration has committed  the sum of N 11,930,062,607.00 to this sub sector, representing 16.92 percent of the capital estimate  this amount will be used for the completion of the ongoing renovation and construction of secondary schools and provision of infrastructures at  tertiary  institutions, some of the projects includes, renovation and building of Government Technical college Bukuru -N150,000,000.00, renovation and building of 3 science secondary schools, in kuru, Mangun and Shendam, N300,000,000.00,renovation and building of 15 secondary schools, 5 Per senatorial zone -N800,000.00, furnishing and equipping of the newly constructed and renovated schools -N300,000,000.00

The states tertiary institutions have been allocated various sums of money for the provision of projects and educational facilities 

Similarly Government has also embarked the sum of four hundred and twelve million Naira, N4,352,033,311.00 for the payment of students scholarship allowances studying within and outside the country. 

Similarly the sum of N4,352,033,311.00 has been approved to the health sector, some of the major projects in the health sector includes completion and expansion of 3 General hospitals at Riyom, Mabudi, and Kwal, building and renovation of Plateau specialist hospital Jos

Upgrading of General hospital Langtang to Referal hospital and upgrading of General hospital Pankshin to Referral hospital 

Yahaya also thanked the people of Plateau for their continued support to the Rescue administration stressing that government would continue to deliver on its campaign promises to the people of the state.
