SHIFTING THE GOAL POST:THE PLASIEC MELO-DRAMA.

It is no longer news that the body responsible for conducting Local Government elections on the Plateau (PLASIEC) has vaguely postponed polls earlier stated for 17/2/2018 to a date that only celestial beings or probably the Governor and his kitchen cabinet are aware of.

When INEC announced the postponement of the 2015 general elections it had a definite date (i.e six weeks)the same security reason was raised by the Jonathan,s administration, that didn’t stop crisis ridden in Borno,Adamawa, and Yobe states from exercising their franchise as citizens of the federal Republic of Nigeria including Internally Displaced Persons(IDP,s) Camps.

Here on the Plateau, democracy has been squandered by personalities that benefited immensely from this system. The forum of the PDP Chairmanship Candidates frowns at this anti-democracy gimmick that the Governor Lalong led government is playing out using the instrumentality of PLASIEC.As a matter of reality the government should allow citizens to decide who leads them at this critical tier of governance. The petience of our electorates should not be taken for granted, they have waited for a long time to vote for the government of their choice and the government that is closest to them.

We want to unequivocally register our dismay with this undemocratic display of arrogance and abuse of power by the APC led administration.Let the will of the people prevail, remember we are in a democratic dispensation.A word they say is enough for the wise, it is Crystal this government is not aware of this saying.

The term “Impunity”gained parlance on the Plateau because of the ambition of S.B Lalong, now it has been personified by the same individual. The rumour mill has it that the government wants to impose APC flagbearers as transition committee chairmen which is alien to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and democratic tenets.Allow the APC candidates to test their popularity in a free and fair contest that plateau people know they will loose woefully.

The PDP chairmanship candidates wish to use this platform to call on the patient and wonderful electorates of the seventeen local government areas to remain calm, patriotic as we wait for a date that wil be announced by PLASIEC for elected leaders of your choice to emerge and deliver the required dividends of democracy.
