Lalong wife flag- off Measles vaccination Campaign of one million children in Plateau State.

Wife of the Plateau State Governor Mrs Regina Lalong yesterday expressed her readiness to partner with the necessary organs of Government, donor Agencies and Non Governmental Organizations to fight the scourge of child killer diseases in rural and communities of the Plateau state.
The Plateau State First Lady disclose this yesterday during the official flag-Off National Measle Vaccination Campaign by the Plateau State Health Care Development Board held at SDA Primary School Laranto, Jos North LGC of the State.
Mrs Lalong disclose that the campaign is going to last for three days, during which is expected to target over one million children that will be vaccinated.
She pledge that the prevention of measles which causes blindness ,deafness ,lowered immunity and death would receive total support under her office.
Mrs Regina Lalong explained that the immunization is safe ,effective and free there is need for all parents especially women to take action to deliver these life saving solution to all children and give the children a chance for a better life.
“I wish to calls on stakeholders healthcare givers and the General public to support Government in its effort to protect the vulnerable group from nine months to five years toward the effective eradication of measles in Nigeria, let me emphasis that the vaccines is safe, effectively and free as prevention is better than cure”.
“I believed that with all our collective support and the level of our preparedness in the state the coverage will be greatly improved”
She however commended the Plateau State Government under the leadership of her husband for making funds available to fully trained and mobilized all the health workers in the State in other to delivered quality service.
The Executive Secretary Primary Healthcare Board Plateau state Dr Livinus Miapkwap on his Part tasks family ,parents and caregiver to know that one million measles vaccines is available for children from 9 months to 5 years in all public and private hospitals across the 17 Local Government of the state.
Dr Miapkwap said measles is a very dangerous disease which can spread one infected person to another mostly children who are under the ages of 0 to 5 years and it can lead to their death .
According to him ,it reduces their ability to fight other diseases ,resulting in frequent illness and also increase the risk of contracting measles on children who are under the ages of who cannot complete their routine immunization and those are not vaccinated against measles.
He disclose that the symptoms of measles includes, high fever ,running nose cough ,red and watery eyes ,lose of appetite and rashes all over the face and body, but said when the child shows the signs of measles parents should take him or her to the nearest health facility immediately.
Dr. Livinus however commended Governor Simon Lalong for his prompt released of funds to embark on prevention of tuberculosis including cough and permanent brain damage in the state.
On his Part the Emir of Kanam His Royal Highness , Mohammed Babagida said traditional rulers and custodian of the people will offer their total support to the fight against child killer disease .
Babagida urged parents to bring out their children to the nearest public health facilities to be given vaccines to ensure they prevent outbreak of untimely death.
