THANKSGIVING ON 2ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE 8TH ASSEMBLY.
As we mark the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly today 09/06/17, one cannot but affirm and declare the wordings of 1Sam 7:12b, “THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US.” (Emphasis mine). Absolute reliance on grace and divine enablement along with the prayers and support of men of goodwill, has inspired, galvanized and propelled me for legislative craftsmanship and result oriented representation.
As I ascribe the glory to God in thanksgiving on this day, I hereby restate my appreciation to the very good people of Barikin Ladi/Riyom Federal constituency. God, through their popular mandate, validated his calling upon my life as an apostle in the market place of politics and governance. I sincerely rededicate and commit myself towards the realization of their aspirations and expectations as the Lord enables me.
I, along with my colleagues in the National Assembly remain focused in the pursuit of the agenda of law making for the order, peace and good governance of Nigeria in line with our core constitutional mandate.
We are also paying close attention to the challenge of nation building especially in managing our diversity across ethnic, religious and regional divides particularly at a time when irredentism and ethnic chauvinism are being projected in some quarters, albeit constituting a grave threat to national security and cohesion. We cannot shy away from addressing the fundamentals on the vexed national question if we must strengthen and guarantee our continued existence as a nation. In this regard, cognizance and reference must be had to the issues that were canvassed and captured in the ‘National Conference Report’. The earlier this is done, the safer and the better!
One cannot, on a day as this, not express concern that the quest for the diversification of the Oil dependent economy of our nation may seem to be a mirage, but certainly not an impossible task if only we can set our policies and priorities right. This is however contingent on the platform of a patriotic, purposeful, nationalistic, visionary, passionate, relentless, and selfless leadership that is willing and determined to pay the price for the prize! It is possible!
Once again, I appreciate God and all people of goodwill for attaining two years as a parliamentarian and people’s representative in the National Assembly, Nigeria.
Rep ID Gyang, NASS, Abuja.
