A father and daughter in Bonkwa village of Madakiya district in Southern Kaduna were killed on Saturday by unknown gunmen. The gunmen whom villages say are Fulanis stormed the village on Saturday night at about 10pm killing the duo and injuring four others.

The district head of Madakiya, Dr David Kantiyok called for calm and vigilance within his subjects. He said that the attack was done deliberately to scare his people from celebrating Christmas.The man who is known as Iliya Ishaya and aged 37 was shot in his house alongside his 5 year old daughter called Salama.

A resident said “They came to our area at about 10pm on Saturday and went straight to Iliya’s house, shooting at random. They killed him instantly while his daughter later died of bullet wounds. Four people were also injured and they are receiving treatment at a government hospital in Kaduna.”

Kaduna State police commissioner, Mr Olufemi Adenaike confirmed the incident and said investigation has commenced to nip the perpetrators.
