The statement which was signed and released by the STF spokesman Captain Salisu Mustapha on Saturday in Jos stated that the STF will work with local security operatives to ensure the task is achieved. He stated that the search was mainly to ensure firearms and explosives were not smuggled into the recreation centres.

It added that vehicles will not be allowed into the premises of the recreation area during the festivity period. The STF also called on religious leaders to put security measures in their places of worships during the period to complement the STF. It added that security operatives will be at churches and strategic areas of the state all through the celebration period.

The STF said there will be increase in security actions such as snap and temporary checkpoints, intensified vehicular search and massive deployment of the Federal Road Safety Commission to enhance traffic control. Fireworks were also banned in the state all through the period.
