Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) has zoned its position of the state chairman of the party to Northern senatorial district  of the state with the central zone producing the Deputy Chairman and Southern zone of the state told to produce the secretary of the party in that order.

With this zoning arrangement, the 2019 governorship ticket of the party has been moved from the northern to Southern zone of the state to end series of agitation that cost the party the 2015 governorship election in the state.

This zoning formula was adopted by the party caucus at a meeting held at the party secretariat in Jos with two former Governors of the state, Senator Joshua Dariye and Senator Jonah David Jang in attendance.

The meeting was called to chart a way forward for the party a head  of the April party congresses in the state.

Sources at the meeting said the caucus of the party sat down at the meeting and agreed on the template to be used at the forth coming congresses of the party in the state which is expected to start from the ward, local government councils and the state in that order, all billed for the month of April.

The state Publicity secretary of the party  Hon Peter Shyepsuk while confirming this new development in the party to journalist in Jos  on Wednesday at the party secretariat  said  ‘’ we agreed to continue with what has been on the ground in the party, the position of  the chairman was agreed to be given to the northern zone  and all other positions that goes with it . Same thing with central and Southern zone,’’ he said.
