The Nigerian Army has graduated students who participated in Driver Basic Course with a stringent warning against indulgence in drugs. The graduation ceremony which took place at the 73 Supply and Transport Brigade Driving School Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos also witnessed the presentation of certificates of proficiency to the Graduants.
Making his remarks at the ceremony, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar noted the important roles of drivers in the discharge of the constitutional roles of the military. He remarked that the safety of lives of the commanders as well as comrades lies with the drivers.
Represented by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 3 Division, Brigadier General David Kurmi, the GOC and Commander OPSH charged the students on professional conduct and urged them to employ the driving skills acquired for the safety of troops and warned against taking drugs or any substance. He said any driver found indulging in drugs will be sanctioned severely. He congratulate the graduands and commended the 73 Supply and Transport Brigade Driving School for training the driver to meet up with the manpower needs of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander 73 Supply and Transport Brigade, Brigadier General NM Sabo said, the continuous training of troops is an important aspect of military career. He said the training was aimed at producing good drivers that can operate military vehicles effectively.
He further revealed that the students were equipped with the requisites mastery to face any challenge posed by weather and other hazards on the road. He commended the students for putting in their best and good characters exhibited during the training.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to the graduands and group photograph.
