60 percent of Nigerians don’t participate in Electoral Processes, Says Expert.

The Acting Executive Director of Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP) in Nigeria Mr Nelson Ananze has disclose that over 60 percent of Nigerians don’t participate actively in electoral process.
According to him most of the Youths who served as instrument of electoral violence don’t have the voters card to votes during elections.
Ananze disclose this yesterday during a step down Training on voters Education Manuel organized by Community Action for Popular Participation and Action Aid to strengthening Citizens Engagement in Electoral Processes in Nigeria held at Goodlife Hotel Jos.
“As we all know elections is one of the pillars of democracy and we equally know 2019 is fast approaching that is why we are conducting this step down training on updated Manuel on voters education so that the participants will also go back to their communities to also step it down too”.
He stressed that only about 30 to 40 percent of Nigerians who actively votes during elections while about 60 don’t even votes neither participate in electoral processes.
Ananze said the training is also to reduce the number of invalid votes always recorded during the general elections in the country, saying there is need to create proper enlightenment to voters from various communities to ensure correct voting system during General elections.
“Some of the electorates go to the voting centres and stay throughout the day and after the elections their votes don’t count because they didn’t votes rightly”.
He said the training which is to strengthen citizens Engagement in Electoral processes is taken place in six states of Nigeria to includes Kano, Plateau, Kaduna, Lagos, Imo and Akwa-Ibom states to educate the people on how to votes properly.
Our correspondent gather that the participants of the workshop are drawn from 18 communities across six LGC of the Plateau State including the Civil societies members and staffs of the National Orientation Agency amongst other critical elections stakeholders.
