Jos, Plateau State – News reaching Viewpointnigeria suggests that the Special Task Force, STF, on Friday apprehended 4 suspects involved in the recent killings that sparked off tensions in Riyom Local Government Area of the state.

In a public statement by its spokesman, Salisu Mustapha, the STF said it would go the whole mile in bringing justice to the victims of the heinous acts.  The spokesman then appealed to the warring factions to let go their grievances and embrace dialogue in order to end the spate of violence that has bedevilled the area.

The spokesman described April as a difficult month of security operatives, as several attacks and carnages were recorded across Berom settlements. A few of the attacks recorded include :

– Monday 15th April, 2013 – 11:30pm, gunmen attacked Dakum village in Riyom Local Government Area killing eight villagers.

– Tuesday 16th April, 2013 – 5:30am, two people were ambushed and killed between Jol and Tanjol villages of Riyom Local Government area.

– Wednesday 17th April, 2013 – 1:30pm a herd of cattle was rustled between Tanjol, Rim and Gilgare settlements. 19 cows were killed and 6 sustained gunshots wounds. Following that incident, at 11:40pm, another attack was recorded in Tashek and Jol settlement and the assailants killed 7 people and burnt several houses. This latest attack was said to be a reprisal to the earlier incident during which several cows were rustled and killed.

In respect of the incident of the 15th April 2013, the STF confirmed that four suspects have been arrested and were helping police with their investigations.
