University Don Charges Graduands of Unijos to be Worthy Ambassadors

Former Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Jos Professor Dakas Clement Dakas, SAN, has charged graduating students of the institution to be determined to succeed in life, advising them not to be intimidated by any odd they might encounter while climbing the ladder of success of life .
The University Don further charged them to be good ambassadors of the institution .
He made this known while delivering a convocation lecture at the 31st and 32nd Convocation ceremonies of the University of Jos .
Dakas further charged the graduands not to rest on their oars as the world beckons .
“I urge you to leverage on the networks that I hope you cultivated and
nurtured over the course of your studies beyond the vagaries and shenanigans of ethnicity, religion and other identity markers .”
He further urged them to uphold
and promote common humanity and concomitantly engender
sustainable peace and development in the country.
The Ex Dean further said the role of Universities in promoting the Common Humanity Universities and other institutions of learning have a critical role to play in promoting our common humanity.
”, Education empowers, liberates and makes people less susceptible to brainwashing and manipulation, the intersection of peace
education and diversity management cannot be over-emphasized. “
He further said through peace education, Nigerians can, inter alia, counter the narrative that underpins and drives the rising wave of inter-ethnic, inter-religious and other atrocious ideas and heinous actions that strike at the core of our
common humanity.
“As centres of learning and excellence, our universities and other
institutions of learning need to, as a matter of deliberate policy,
engender diversity in their governance structures, staff disposition and
student enrolment.” he added
