3 Suspects Arrested in Bokkos For Adulterating Bejafta Fertilizer

Luck has ran out of 3 Suspects whose stock in trade is adulterating Bejafta Fertilizer in Bokkos LGA, Plateau State.

Their arrest was made possible by security personnel following a tipoff and have confessed to their crime at Civil Defence Hqtrs Jos after thorough investigations were carried out.

The suspects were arrested at Bokkos Thursday Market following intelligence information concerning their nefarious activities of selling the adulterated products to unsuspected buyers.

The suspects namely Magon Caleb Titus popularly known as ‘Semu’, Maton Solomon (Gunshot) and Sule Umar (Nasidi) all made confessional statements saying they have been into the business of illegally printing Bejefta Bags Brand.

They also confessed that they buy say 5 Bag of the original Bejefta Fertilizer then buy good quantity of limestone, then mix to get more quantity, at least 20 bags from the original 5 Bags after mixing the limestone and sell to the public.

Bejefta Fertilizer Plant Bokkos resumed full operations in September, 2020 after over one year break of non-production.

Major farmers in Mangu and Bokkos LGAs who had used the adulterated products complained of low yield.

The Fertilizer plant in the past years has suffered serious challenges from both internal and external forces (such as saboteurs) which made it stop production.

The Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Jacob Makwal however, said he is optimistic that production will be consistent having put in place the needed control mechanism to mitigate avoidable loopholes in its administration.

The MD also advised consumers to buy authentic Bejefta Fertilizer from its recognized dealers in Bokkos and pleaded with them to exercise patience as the company address the adulteration case which is being handled by the security agency.
