The 3 Division Nigerian Army emerged the champion at the concluded Nigerian Army Inter-Division Combat Platoon Obstacle Crossing Competition 2024 held at the 3 Division Obstacle Ground, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos the Plateau State capital. The 3-day competition, which witnessed the display of vigour, teamwork, exceptional skills, endurance and determination by the participating troops of the Nigerian Army climaxed on Saturday 27 July 2024 with four formations competing in the finals where winners emerged.
Declaring the competition closed, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja stated that the competition underscored the significance of honing the skills and capacity of troops for the sensitive task of defending and securing the country. He further noted the pivotal roles of training, teamwork and resilience in the success of every military operations.
The COAS, represented by the Deputy Chief of Training (Army) Major General MA Etsu-Ndagi, added that the competition was a testament to the commitment of the Nigerian Army to excellence, training and operational preparedness and readiness. He also commended the unwaivering dedication displayed by the organizers and participating formations throughout the competition.
Congratulating the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General AE Abubakar for a well organized event, the COAS also recognized all the participating Divisions for their exceptional performance and display of sportsmanship. He also noted that the outstanding victory of 3 Division in the competition is a testament to its dedication to upholding the highest standards of battle readiness and proficiency.
Eight formations comprising of 1 Division Kaduna, 2 Division Ibadan, 3 Division Jos, 6 Division Port Harcourt and 8 Division Sokoto participated in the Nigerian Army Inter Division Combat Platoon Obstacle Competition 2024.
Others are 81 Division Lagos, 82 Division Enugu and Army Headquarters Garrison. 2 Division Ibadan won the second position while Army Headquarters Garrison came third in order of merit.
The high point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of individual awards, medals and trophies to the winners, as well as souvenirs to invited guests. The event was attended by senior military officers both serving and retired, traditional rulers, and heads of security agencies and government functionaries.
