Reports reaching ViewPointNigeria indicates that 21 persons were arrested over the deaths of Senator Gyang Dantong, Hon Gyang Fulani and scores of others. Senator Dantong who represented Plateau North at the senate and Hon Danfulani who was the majority leader in the State House of Assembly were killed alongside others while attending the funeral of over 50 people killed in an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Many others including Hon Simon Mwadkon the member representing Riyom and Barkin Ladi in the Federal House of Representative were injured.
Confirming the arrest, Captain Salisu Mustapha who is the Special Task Force (STF) spokesman in Plateau said three of the suspects have been charged to court. He said that the STF undertook series of operations that led to the arrests and recovery of arms and ammunition after the attacks. Captain Mustapha said that new strategies were employed after the operation to boost the operation of the STF troops so as to secure the troubled Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs. Some arrests were also made by the police and other security agencies afterwards.
