The Omo Oodua Yoruba Community of the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory FCT yesterday endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
Our correspondent reports that the unanimous decision was part of their resolutions at the 6th Annual General Conference, Installation of chieftaincy and award Presentation held in Jos the Plateau State capital.
The Conference attracted all the Chairmen Yoruba traditional Council of Northern states, representative of his Imperial Majesty Ooni-risa, Oni Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja ii, Oni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa, Obas and Yoruba Community leaders of various States in the North.
In his remarks, the Special Guest of honour the Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong who was represented by the Commisioner of Special duties in the state Gyang Musa, commended the Yoruba nation for their unity of purpose and direction towards actualizing their goals.
Chief Olajide Olagbemiro, leader Yoruba Plateau Egbe Omo Oodua explained reason for the endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Olagbemiro noted that Tinubu’s victory at the polls would lift Nigeria higher from its present state of affairs to the benefit of all, irrespective of colour, creed, faith and religion.
Jide further said that Tinubu stands far above other contenders.
“He is a very experienced politician.
As a former Senator, activist and former governor of Lagos State, our nation need his sagacious nature and liberal mind to lead the country. He has also nurtured and empowered many who are doing well in governance today in the country,”
Also lending his voice, the Yoruba,political leader of the state Rev, Dr. Akintunde Michael opined that their selection for Asiwaju was based on his antecedents in transformation of Lagos state and if elected the same would be replicated in the entire federation.
In his presentation, Chairman of the occasion Senator Anthony Adefuye, expressed that it is incumbent on them to market Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most qualified visionary and competent candidate .
In his goodwill message, His imperial majesty Oonirisa, Oni Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja ii, Oni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa, represented by the Oba Adebayo Adedini Muraina expressed optimism with the Yoruba nation staying in the north for upholding the norms and values of the yoruba cultural heritage.
Our correspondent reports that the 6th edition of the annual general conference drew participants from both the public and private sectors as well as members of the diplomatic Corps.
