As the 2023 Population Census is set to commence, the Honorable Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) Plateau State, Mrs. Cecilia Dapoet has charged the Citizens to avoid interference with the national exercise but accord necessary cooperation to the Enumerators to enable them carry out their assignment professionally.
She confirmed the Commission’s readiness to conduct the 2023 Census exercise to provide the Nation with accurate data that will aid national planning in line with the mandate of the Commission.
He called on the public to allow the Enumerators move freely within communities as they perform their legitimate duty, give them access to buildings and housing units in order to enumerate Members of the households across the State.
She further stressed the need to provide adequate security for census functionaries and their equipment throughout the period of enumeration.
“Give correct, complete and truthful responses to questions from the enumerators and do not resist Census interview by Enumerators assigned to your area” she said.
According to the Federal Commissioner, Population Census data are useful for planning of development activities, equitable distribution of resources and the delineation of electoral constituencies.
Enumerators have been trained and set to carry out the National assignment which will commence soon.
The 2023 Census will be conducted using a software App developed in-house on PDAs produced by an indigenous company in line with Executive Order 5 on local content as well as NITDA regulation on Local Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
