2023 Politics: North Targeting Presidency not Vice President – Fulani Youth Leader

With the closure of the challenge of the 2019 Presidential Election and as the 2023 permutation thickens, Alh. Adamu Maikano Saidu the National President of Jonde Jam Development Association and spokesperson of Association of Fulani in West Africa has said the north is not interested in the vice presidential slot but the Presidential seat.

He called on the yoruba, Niger Delta and the Igbos to forget any ambition for Presidency come 2023.

Alh. Maikano Saidu ranked President Buhari high in terms of his sterling performance and said it is time for the North to have a shot again to be President.

He said all Northern Leaders from Alh. Shehu Shagari and Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua have provided credible leadership but their achievements were destroyed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the projects being carried out across the six geopolitical zones are attestation of the exceptional performance of President Buhari.

The Youth Leader was quick to say the constitution allows all to contest but he is optimistic that the North will retain the Presidential seat.

He said President Buhari has taken the welfare of the citizens as priority of his administration and has united the country more than his two predecessors from the South, Dr. Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Alh. Maikano said President has brought integrity, transparency and accountability to governance in Nigeria. He also commended him for full implementation of the Single treasury account that has addressed leakages and brought transparency in the system.

He said it is laughable that a sitting Governor who has not performed is going about canvassing to be Vice President in 2023. He said the Governor will have a shock of his life. He said instead of him concentrating on providing dividends of democracy to his people, he is more concerned about his vice presidential ambition.

He said anyone from the North nursing ambition to be vice president should relocate to the south, nationalize there and get a nod from the South to represent them as the Vice President of a Northerner in 2023.

He said Northern leaders are more desirous of a progressive, united and great nation than Leaders from the South.

He urged President Buhari to focus on fighting corruption and making Nigeria a great nation.

He also urged President Buhari to also give attention to Nomadic Schools which have been neglected by previous administration.

He said they are fully united and ready to support a Northerner for President in 2023.

He made these disclosures to Journalists in Jos, Plateau State Capital today Wednesday 7th November, 2019.
